Field Trip information

General Information

  • Classic: $7 per child

  • Deluxe: $8.50 per child

    • Owl pellets are $9.50 per child​.

 

Requirements 

  • There is a 15 child minimum for field trips.

  • There must be one chaperone per five children (there will be a fee for missing chaperone on day of the visit). Chaperones that fulfill our requirements (1:5) are FREE. Additional chaperones are welcome but they are $7 each.

  • If you would like to bring a packed lunch, there is a $30 flat fee added to the final total. 

Labor Day through Memorial Day

  • Groups larger than 50 must be booked on Mondays when we are closed to the public. 

Memorial Day through Labor Day

  • We are not able to book groups larger than 30 due to camps, programs, and higher volume.

  • Deluxe option only available in the afternoon in June and July 2023.

SELF-GUIDED MUSEUM EXPLORATION

The Classic field trip package offers two hours of free play and self-guided Museum exploration! Explore four levels of hands-on, one-of-a-kind science exhibits.

The Deluxe

FIELD TRIPS THAT ALIGN WITH COMMON CORE & NC EDUCATION STANDARDS

We believe the most important learning happens outside the classroom. Book a field trip with us to enhance your students' learning experiences. Select your customized NC Education Standard field trip led by our Educators and enjoy two full hours of self-guided Museum exploration. 

All Deluxe options are adaptable to fit student needs. Please let us know how we can best support your group on the Field Trip request form.

  • Making a Reservation
    Making a field trip reservation starts by choosing whether you'd like a Classic Field Trip or a Deluxe Field Trip. From there, you'll submit a request form that is sent to our team. Reservation requests must be made as far in advance as possible, and no less than 2 weeks in advance. We are unable to accommodate reservation requests less than 2 weeks in advance. After we receive your request, our team will contact you to discuss your reservation options and help complete your reservation within a few business days.   • Payment Options & Pricing
    Pricing Classic Field Trips: $7 per child; chaperones that fulfill our ratio requirements (1:5) are FREE. Additional chaperones are $7 each. Deluxe Field Trips: $8.50 per child; $9.50 per child for the Owl Pellet Dissection program; chaperones that fulfill our ratio requirements (1:5) are FREE. Additional chaperones are $7 each. Payment Options & Policies Payments are accepted via check or by VISA, Discover, MasterCard. Every student and adult in your group requires admission and must be counted in your group reservation numbers. CMoW memberships, guest passes, gift admissions, etc. cannot be used for admission during a school field trip.
  • Lunch Options
    CMoW does not coordinate lunch orders as an add-on for field trips. Please note if you would like to bring a packed lunch, there is a $30 flat fee added to the final total.
  • Bus Parking
    The Children's Museum of Wilmington provides bus parking on Orange Street directly in front of our entrance. We will have a marked off area and guidance upon arrival. Please note that buses must enter from Front Street as seen below.
  • Parking for Cars & Individual Vehicles
    We welcome you to park along Orange Street or surrounding areas in downtown Wilmington. More information on parking locations, hourly pricing, and observed holidays can be found here.

LIMA BEANS IN A BAG

Using lima beans, little learners will learn what essential ingredients plants need to survive and grow.

Little scientists dissect real owl pellets and discover the owl's diet and more about this North Carolina native species.
